More Than Designers

Unfortunately, the work of a designer is often only perceived as „Schönmacherei“ (beautification). But we are able to do more than pretty shapes. We creatives (I prefer this term) overthink existing processes, improve workflows, ask critical questions about the status quo, join people but as well people and technology, think analytical and poetic and try to find sustainable solutions for our planet. Within this personal project, I try to red-flag the extinction of flora and fauna. This is as well part of the design.

Some of you are familiar with Nike´s campaign MORE THAN AN ATHLETE  together with LeBron James. Their statement was that people in public life should raise their voices and talk about racism and any other kind of injustice. MORE THAN DESIGNERS ties in with this idea but should advise us to certain animals which are close to extinction. Sadly more than 200 species are dying every day. Some animals and plants we never saw.

The Air Max 1, one of the most well-known sneakers, should only be seen as an example of how a CMF could make a bold statement. You will find different textures of 10 animals that are close to extinction in 2022:

Javan Rhinocerous, Vaquita, Mountain Gorilla, Tiger, Asian Elephant, Orangutans, Leatherback turtles, Snow Leopards, Irrawaddy Dolphins, Bluefin Tuna

I wish that brands such as Nike and other big companies would launch collections in which sales would be transferred 100% to institutions such as WWF.  Let's make #morethandesigners a big thing. Happy to read and hear your feedback.

Within this personal project, I enjoyed working with Blender 3d for the first time. At this point, I would like to give a big shoutout to Derek Elliot https://www.derrk.com/ whose tutorials are really amazing and entertaining. Blender will definitely be on my todos for this year. Some textures and modells I got from https://www.poliigon.com/ .

All 3d modelling, renderings and sculpting was done in Blender.
